Roel Goussey is known for the subtle and colourful sophistication of his graphics and paintings that refer to the sea and to an ever surprising aesthetic in which the essence is triumphant. The three-dimensional often, if not always, lurks in the flat surface. After all, at times the three-dimensional evolves from the two-dimensional and vice versa. 

This is also the case now with his three-dimensional work that presents a different view of what can be described as an inspiring simplicity, in which colour and form merge, complement each other and create space. Fragile or robust compositions in which the uniqueness of the individual elements next to or on top of each other or interwoven,

function optimally.

 

Roel Goussey staat bekend voor het discrete en kleurige raffinement van zijn grafiek en zijn schilderijen die aan de zee refereren en aan een telkens verrassende esthetiek waarin de essentie triomfeert. In het vlakke sluimert vaak zo niet steeds ook het ruimtelijke; 

uit het twee-dimensionele groeit immers bijwijlen het drie-dimensionele en andersom. 

Zo verschijnt hij ook nu met ruimtelijk werk dat een andere kijk biedt op wat als een inspirerende eenvoud kan worden omschreven, waarin kleur en vorm elkaar benaderen en aanvullen, volume worden, tengere of robuuste assemblage waarbij de eigenheid van de onderdelen naast of op elkaar, of in elkaar vervlochten, optimaal functioneert.
