For Ilona Plaum too, the reference to the tangible is omitted. Her photographs are installations for the flat surface in which perspective becomes the most important subject: she uses surface and depth interchangeably and turns background into an object, the three-dimensional becomes two-dimensional, the distance comes closer.
She plays with the conventions of the planned and builds up illusions to create tension between suggestion and registration. She attaches importance to the manual, directness and insight of the technique: nothing in her work has been photoshopped.
Ook voor Ilona Plaum wordt de verwijzing naar het concrete los gelaten. Haar foto-ensceneringen zijn installaties voor het platte vlak waarin perspectief het voornaamste onderwerp wordt: ze gebruikt oppervlakte en diepte door elkaar en maakt achtergrond tot object, het driedimensionale wordt tweedimensionaal, de verte komt dichtbij.
Ze speelt met de conventies van het planmatige en bouwt illusies op om spanning te creëren tussen suggestie en registratie. Ze hecht belang aan het handmatige, de directheid en de inzage van de techniek: niets in haar werk is immers gefotoshopt.
