Deze groepstentoonstelling vormt het tweede luik van The Hand Follows the Mind en richt zich op werken op — en van — papier. Ook karton krijgt hierin een opvallende plaats als volwaardig drager van artistieke expressie.
Papier wordt door veel kunstenaars gewaardeerd om zijn toegankelijkheid en directe karakter. Het medium nodigt uit tot onderzoek, tot snelle notatie en intuïtieve gebaren. In combinatie met materialen als potlood, krijt of verf ontstaat een tastbare dialoog tussen gedachte en handeling. Elke lijn, plooi of afdruk laat sporen na van een artistiek proces waarin reflectie en actie samenvallen.
De werken in deze tentoonstelling getuigen van de rijkdom en veelzijdigheid van papier als drager. Ze tonen hoe dit ogenschijnlijk fragiele materiaal ruimte biedt aan experiment,
verbeelding en persoonlijke expressie — en zo een essentiële rol speelt in het artistieke denken en maken.
This group exhibition forms the second part of The Hand Follows the Mind and focuses on works on — and made of — paper. Even cardboard takes on a prominent role.
For many artists, paper is an invitation to freedom. It is accessible, immediate, and allows for a quick response to a thought or impulse. With materials such as oil paint, pencil or chalk, an idea can take shape almost instantly. Every line, every crease or impression bears witness to a moment of thought and action.
