As a result of Benoît Félix (1969, Namen-Lustin) constant fascination, he plays with the drawing as a three-dimensional image, as an optical illusion. He draws a line as a new reality, as an object that exists in reality, but the line itself is not part of that reality.
By cutting out a part of a drawing and placing it in a spatial context, it no longer projects an image of something and by doing so the artist returns its value as an entity that exists in reality. Appearance and reality, what is and what is not.
Vanuit een voortdurende verwondering speelt Benoît Félix (1969, Namen-Lustin) met de tekening als driedimensionaal beeld, als trompe-l’oeuil. Hij tekent een lijn als een nieuwe werkelijkheid, als een object dat echt bestaat, maar de lijn zelf maakt geen deel uit van de realiteit.
Door de tekening uit te knippen en in de ruimte te plaatsen is het niet langer een beeld van iets en geeft de kunstenaar het zijn waarde terug als iets dat bestaat in de werkelijkheid. Schijn en werkelijkheid, wat is en niet is.
