The work of Trees De Mits (1951) is an ever-expanding laboratory of spatial elements and digital images. At times they are rudimentary and difficult to interpret, at other times they are clearly recognizable. They emerge from a specific concept in which intuition and process give shape to a vague memory or a clear statement. 

 

The reference to the physical can often be found in her photographs and sculptures. As an artist, she enjoys the challenge of putting intimacy and sensuality at the centre of an art that has primarily become conceptual.

 

Het werk van Trees De Mits (1951) is een steeds groeiend laboratorium van ruimtelijke elementen en digitale beelden. Nu eens zijn ze rudimentair en nauwelijks te duiden, dan weer herkenbaar. Ze ontstaan vanuit een welbepaald concept waarbinnen intuïtie en proces richting geven aan een vage herinnering of een duidelijk verslag. 

 

De referentie naar het lichamelijke is dikwijls nog terug te vinden in haar foto’s en sculpturen. Als kunstenaar vindt ze het een uitdaging om intimiteit en zintuiglijkheid centraal te stellen binnen een voornamelijk conceptueel geworden kunst.
