Ilse Van Roy vertrekt vanuit de archetypische vorm van de kruik, een object dat tegelijk bewaart en schenkt. In haar glazen en gemengde grondsculpturen zuivert ze deze vorm verder uit tot een essentie waarin de spanning tussen binnen en buiten, tussen rust en beweging, voelbaar wordt. Licht wordt bij haar een sculpturaal element dat de vorm activeert en in voortdurende verandering houdt.
Ilse Van Roy takes the archetypal form of the vessel as her starting point — an object that both preserves and gives. In her glass and mixed-media floor sculptures, she further distils this form to its essence, where the tension between inside and outside, between stillness and movement, becomes tangible. Light, in her work, becomes a sculptural element that activates the form and keeps it in a state of continual transformation.
